Description and Table of Contents
Description
The future welfare of industrial society will depend significantly on how well we are able to cope with information. Information processing has been given much attention ever since computers began to play an important role in industry several decades ago. More recently, the interchange of information between all constituents in industrial systems for production and engineering has been identified as a bottleneck - this is primarily because modern industrial systems have become increasingly complex. This publication contains contributions from a wide range of international specialists seeking solutions to the many problems of interfacing components in industrial systems. Key areas for which advanced solutions are presented include: man-machine interaction; product data technology; planning tools; information exchange; cooperative work; distributed systems.
