Frank Lutz and Carol Merz draw on the Dissatisfaction Theory of American Democracy, and show how that political theory can be practically applied in local school districts in order to build and maintain a strong school/community relationship. Five important case studies are presented, including the famous Robertsdale case. Chapters cover such areas as: conflict and change in modern school governance; the history of the American public schools and of the American community; superintendent/school board relationships; putting dissatisfaction to work; and applying dissatisfaction to the study of site politics and public relations.
