This dictionary contains terms in the areas of hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science and related disciplines. It has been compiled to facilitate an understanding of the literature on water problems for English-speaking and Russian-speaking specialists and to promote their personal communication.When selecting terms for the dictionary, emphasis was placed on concepts related to the study, management, and protection of natural waters as an environmental component. The dictionary also covers some terms defining concepts of allied sciences used in studying water resources. This dictionary represents the modern level of knowledge in the areas of hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science, geology, geophysics, geochemistry, well-drilling technology, soil science, agricultural chemistry, and climatology, including modeling and methods of prediction. It is of interest to a broad community of specialists - hydrologists, hydrogeologists, environmentalists, hydrochemists, hydraulic engineers, and water managers.
