Description
This book summarizes the status of the US health care system and the emergence of research and methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of health care. It discusses how and why Oregon has adopted their radical new plan, and the influence this plan may have on future efforts to prioritize health care in other states. "The Hippocratic Predicament" suggests that information on health outcome can be used to direct health care resource allocations and goes one step beyond the Oregon plan to propose new health policies that should control cost, improve access and maximize health benefits for the population.
