In this practical book, the author encourages teachers to make more use of picture books in the language and literacy curriculum of the primary classroom. He suggests that picture books can be of immense value to teachers concerned with the development of children's literacy by making activities both purposeful and pleasurable. He argues that far from being mere illustrations, pictures are an integral part of the storytelling process.
