内容説明
This new report covers the ethnic complexity of Afghanistan, which reflects its position between Persian and Turkish speaking peoples to the north and west, and the various South Asian peoples of the east. Traditionally organized on tribal/ethnic lines, this structure has partially disintegrated during this century with economic penetration and pressure from the outside. The USSR invasion of December 1979 not only resulted in deaths, destruction and a flow of refugees, but further polarized the population. This aspect of the present state of Afghanistan is given particular attention in this report.
