Description and Table of Contents

Description

Several new developments in applied mathematics are related to the theoretical fundamentals of computer vision. In this area, the experimental nature of studying new theoretical concepts in computer science is demonstrated. The high complexity of computer vision processes is characterizing already the low-level domain of digitized figures, and appears up to the high-level domain of understanding complex dynamic scenes. New approaches have to be suggested, theoretically and experimentally studied, and integrated into complex solutions. This collection of papers results from the fifth biennial workshop on "Theoretical Foundations of Computer Vision", held at Buckow (Maerkische Schweiz) in Spring 1992. Topics covered in these papers include digital geometry and topology, geometric models for knowledge-based picture analysis, hierarchies (wavelets and pyramids), stereo and modelling and pictures of vision processes.
