Since 1987, prostaglandins, a group of naturally-occurring fatty acids which stimulate the dilation of blood vessels and muscle, have been used in an increasing number of clinical settings. In obstetrics and gynaecology they have been used to dilate the cervix, in gastroenterology for healing ulcers, and, most recently, in cardiovascular disease for reducing resistance to blood flow. This book provides an overview of their applications in clinical practice.
