Description and Table of Contents

Description

Focusing on the identification of substances on the basis of their retention, this volume pays particular attention to methods for attaining optimum conditions in order to obtain reliable values of retention times. The measurement of adjusted retention times, dead retention time, the effect of the stationary phase and temperature are all considered. The relationship between the retention index and the retention structure is discussed, and the authors include calculations of the retention indices from various parameters which characterize the analyte molecule. The book features numerous tables which summarize over 1500 values of retention indices on several stationary phases, together with their temperature dependences.

Table of Contents

  • The ways of expressing retention data
  • temperature dependence of the retention indices
  • relation of the retention indices to the structure of the chromatographed substances
  • the methods for calculation of the retention indices
  • the use of the retention indices for characterization of stationary phases
  • retention indices on selected stationary phases.
