内容説明
Thirty years ago Dwight D. Eisenhower, in his farewell address as President, warned of a military-industrial complex; a complex organizational system seemingly beyond the control of citizens and their elected government. With Eisenhower's ideas as inspiration, this book offers a collection of essays that examine various aspects of the U.S. Military-Industrial Complex and the farewell warning. The book reflects an interdisciplinary effort; essays come from such fields as history, economics, sociology, business, and communication.
目次
Contents: This book includes thirteen essays that address various aspects of the United States Military-Industrial Complex and President Dwight D. Eisenhower's farewell warning about that complex. The essays are organized according to a variety of perspectives: contemporary, economic and historical, and rhetorical and psychological. The book concludes with an essay that argues for considering Eisenhower's farewell warning as a new paradigm for thinking about the relationships between the citizenry, government, and industry.
