内容説明

Tells the story of the natural history changes that have occurred in the upland areas of Britain since the Arctic tundra landscape of British uplands in the final stage of the last ice age. The impact of climatic change, species development/decline and of human activities are charted. Individual chapters focus on mountain tops, woodlands, moorlands, wetlands, grasslands, plantations, highways and boundaries. The book explains how they have developed and how people have managed them for their own purposes. A particular theme of the book is how aware people need to be of the complexity and vulnerability of wildlife communities.
