This text is a guide not only to DTP innovations but also to the latest versions of hardware and software available, with impartial and informed reports on their suitability for a range of uses. The present fourth edition, takes into account the developments in the hardware operating system software used for desktop publishing, including the latest Macintoshes and the System 7.0 Operating System, as well as the IBM PC with DOS/Windows for OS/2 and Unix workstations, including the NeXT computer. A selection of desktop publishing software products has been covered. coverage is given to programs for image-processing, colour and optical character recognition. In addition, there is a new chapter on printer and font technology, which looks in particular at the question of PostScript and competing products.
