内容説明

Folk stories about the Irish Christian saints have been known for 1500 years. This collection is a treasure house of the tales according to the old writings and the memory of the people of Ireland. The best known saints are certainly St. Patrick, St. Brendan the Navigator, St. Brigid, and St. Columcille. Lady Gregory has included numerous tales about each of them, as well as stories about the fantastic voyages of the wandering hero, Maeldune. And, as Edward Malins reminds the reader in his foreword of 1972...She has a poet's ear for the musical rhythms of Gaelic speech. 1993 reprint with original title. (First published in 1906; 1972 edition was published under the title The Voyages of Saint Brendan the Navigator and Stories of the Saints of Ireland.)
