Description and Table of Contents
Description
A detailed explanation is given of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, as developed by the International Organization for Standardization. The operation of the OSI model is described initially in theoretical terms, and subsequent chapters discuss how the theoretical concepts are applied to the seven individual layers. The book also traces the evolution of layered communication architectures from simple point-to-point connections to current complex networks. The authors of this book draw on a wide experience in the field of data communications. All are employed by Admiral Computing Group plc, a company that specializes in the development of real-time computer systems.
