内容説明

This study claims that the acceptance of Christianity in the 10th century was the most significant cultural event in the history of modern Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. A vast reservoir of cultural concepts, expressions and iconographic images developed within the Eastern Orthodox tradition. Nowadays, Slavic specialists, theologians, historians and literary scholars can turn to a collection which examines the sweep of a thousand years of Slavic Christianity. This is the first in a three-volume collection that brings together essays from two international conferences. The present volume explores the history and influence of Christianity on the Slavs from the 10th to the 17th centuries. Volume 2 examines cultural history from the 18th to the 20th centuries, and Volume 3 examines literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.
