This edition adopts a similar style to previous editions and is designed in a larger format to allow for ease of use. Each chapter provides a full introduction to the Standard under scrutiny, with an analysis of its nature and purpose, and discusses practical problems in accounting treatment. Worked examples are included at regular intervals to show how theory operates in practice and to improve skills in examination technique. Questions and solutions are also provided for this purpose. The book covers all extant standards and financial reporting statement, including Financial Reporting Exposure drafts and Urgent Issue Task Force Abstracts. This text is designed as a main text for a second-year course in financial reporting on accounting or business studies degree programmes, and for a professional paper which includes accounting standards, particularly ACCA Paper 2.8. This edition has been fully updated to include the cashflow standard, Financial Reporting Standards 1, FRS2 on accounting for subsidiary undertakings, and other pronouncements from the Accounting Standards Board, and contains new questions and answers adapted from professional examinations.
It is suitable for undergraduate courses in accounting and professional papers on financial reporting including ACCA 2.8, 2.9, and 3.1; CIMA Stage 2 Financial Accounting and Stage 3 Advanced Financial Accounting; AAT Paper 9; and papers in financial accounting set by the ICAEW, ICAS, ICAI and ICOMA.
