Description and Table of Contents
Description
This volume, containing the most important papers presented at the Symposia of the 8th International Congress of Immunology summarizes the progress made in the last three years. The up-to-date reports cover recent information gleaned on B- and T- cells (ontogeny, repertoire, selection, and tolerance), genetics, structure, function, and evolution of immunoglobulins and T-cell receptors, and molecular and cellular aspects of antigen processing and presentation. A considerable part of the volume deals with the cross-talk of immunecompetent cells, summarizing new results and views on signal transduction pathways, cell adhesion and interaction molecules, and the role of cytokines and cytokine receptors. In addition to basic immunology, various important aspects of clinical immunology are also discussed, including primary immunodeficiencies, autoimmunity, and immunology of infectious diseases and vaccination. Finally, progress in transplantation immunology, reproductive immunology, and tumour immunology is also covered in detail.
