Description

"The English Collection" is a resource for GCSE / Key Stage 4 - a collection of large-format books aiming to offer a real alternative to coursebooks. The collection aims to offer pupils the opportunity to achieve understanding and expertise in each of the National Curriculum recommended media. It can also be used as the basis of a modular scheme, for group work and for pupils working on their own. Teachers can use the whole "English Collection" to cover the full range of programmes of study for the National Curriculum / GCSE, or select individual books to fit in with work. Each book shows how the contents relate to the criteria for GCSE English and English Literature and each book focuses on the process of writing, leading pupils through to the finished product for a specific purpose and audience. In addition, each book aims to encourage continual self-assessement and helps pupils see for themselves how their work relates to GCSE criteria. This particular book shows pupils how to capture a young audience with their own stories, poems, adverts, strip cartoons and information. The book is designed to involve pupils in exciting, creative activities while they learn a great deal about language.
