Description and Table of Contents
Description
"The English Collection" is a resource for GCSE / Key Stage 4 - a collection of large-format books aiming to offer a real alternative to coursebooks. The collection aims to offer pupils the opportunity to achieve understanding and expertise in each of the National Curriculum recommended media. It can also be used as the basis of a modular scheme, for group work and for pupils working on their own. Teachers can use the whole "English Collection" to cover the full range of programmes of study for the National Curriculum / GCSE, or select individual books to fit in with work. Each book shows how the contents relate to the criteria for GCSE English and English Literature and each book focuses on the process of writing, leading pupils through to the finished product for a specific purpose and audience. In addition, each book aims to encourage continual self-assessement and helps pupils see for themselves how their work relates to GCSE criteria. Focusing on poetry, this volume offers students a model showing them how to look at and respond to a variety of poems.
It leads pupils through the process of responding to poems, drafting and revising their own poems and working towards their own anthology.
