内容説明
This text offers an extensive overview of the present knowledge of 5-HT3 receptors in the central nervous system and the periphery with regard to their exclusive location on neurones and their pharmacological, biochemical and functional properties. Among its 12 chapters, 5 are devoted to the present and potential use of 5-HT3 ligands in the treatment of visceral dysfunctions, schizophrenia, anxiety and pain. Although these chapters have been written by specialists in the field, they are understandable by anyone interested not only in serotonin neurotransmission and neurotransmitter receptors but also in neurobiology in general. This book should also be especially helpful for physicians and medical students involved in neurology and psychiatry.
