These essays consider Constantin Brancusi from the points of view of artists, museum directors, philosophers, art historians, art critics, etc. for example James Johnson Sweeney, Sidney Geist, Eckart Muthesius, Isamu Noguchi, Marielle Tabart, Pontus Hulten, Dore Ashton, Mircea Eliade, Mary de Rachewiltz, Joseph Margolis and Florence Hetzler.The influences of his native Romania, Paris, India and America are presented by those who know them well. Florence Hetzler has retraced Brancusi's steps in India and sought out the meaning for Brancusi of his project for a Temple of Meditation in Indore, India. The book reveals facets of Brancusi, the man, artist and philosopher, who, though a simple man, is known around the world, and has made a difference in that world.
