Description and Table of Contents
Description
Receptor autoradiography is a powerful aand robust technique that is widely used to localize and characterize peptide and neurotransmitter binding sites. Its extensive use reflects the utility of technique and the important advantages it offers over conventional biochemical procedures. This book aims to make receptor autoradiography more accesible by giving a detailed account of the methodology and its application in the analysis of receptors in the brain and peripheral organs. These examples are not exaustive but illustrate the versatility of the technique as well as its potential pitfalls. The book provides an introduction to the receptor concept and gives detailed informaitn on the theory and procedures involved in the auto radiographic localization and quantification of radiolabelled ligand binding sites. The book should be useful to neuroscientists, pharmacologists, histochemists, neuropathologists and scientists in the pharmaceuticals industry.
