内容説明
"From Pop to Punk to Postmodernism" is a study of Australian popular music and popular culture. Drawing on a variety of critical perspectives, the contributors examine the connections between popular music, youth culture and national identity. They look at the conditions of production in the music industry and the implications this has for female and Aboriginal musicians, as well as the question of whether there is a distinct Australian musical style. Individual chapters focus on Midnight Oil, INXS , Kate Ceberano, Kylie Minogue and the House Music and Dance Party scene. "Philip Hayward lectures in drama and mass communications at Macquarie University, Sydney, and is the author of "The pop music industry" (1988), and editor of "Picture this -- media representations of visual art and artists" (1988), "Culture, technology and creativity" (1990) and "Screen space and cyberspace" (1991).
