This atlas presents the results of investigations into the human liver using scanning electron microscopy. The healthy human liver, the various developmental stages of the foetal liver and a wide variety of liver diseases are illustrated. The atlas begins with a concise text explaining the contents of the micrographs to the reader who is not well acquainted with liver morphology. The three-dimensional presentation of the pictures enables the reader to visualize more clearly the microphotographic and functional relationships found in the liver. This book will be a tool not only for hepatologists, but also for anatomists, pathologists, research workers and medical students.
