Description and Table of Contents

Description

This text provides an introductory guide for clinicians who find themselves involved in giving advice to patients and their families about inherited diseases. Now in its 4th edition, the book has been thoroughly revised and updated, in particular the detailed risk information in the second half of the book. The section on the application of molecular genetics has been completely rewritten in the light of recent rapid advances in knowledge and developments in human gene mapping, population screening and the ethical aspects of genetic testing are also covered. Although aimed primarily at the practising clinician, it will also prove useful for paramedical and non-medical staff associated with medical genetics centres and allied laboratories. Students in medicine and genetics should also find it a useful course book to accompany lectures on human genetics.
