Description and Table of Contents

Description

Designed for undergraduate students, this text discusses all fields of medicine, including chapters on respiratory medicine, intensive care, neurology, gastroenterology, nutrition, haematology, infectious diseases, genitourinary medicine and diseases of the environment. It aims to provide a digestible account of modern medicine in a concise, attractive and memorable way. It provides a broad overview of the subject covering all the common medical conditions and leaving out unnecessary detail. By providing essential facts only, the text allows for quick reference and fast learning. Colour illustrations, tables and lists are devices used to help students memorize key points. The format of the book enables it to be carried in a pocket to the bedide or outpatient clinic. Included are details of demographic changes and a chapter on the care of the elderly. A chapter on tropical medicine reflects the importance of tropical and infectious diseases. All the contributors regularly teach medical students both at the bedside and in more formal surroundings.
