This volume marks the sixth international meeting of the top researchers in the field of negative ion source development. The subject of H- and D- sources are given particular discussion in this book. Other major topics discussed are: fundamental processes in negative ion sources, where both the plasma physics and atomic physics aspects of various type sources are presented, including modelling; the performance of actual source with emphasis on volume production of H- sources; diagnostics on sources; beam extraction, transport, acceleration, and neutralization; and the use of negative ions in systems, with the emphasis on neutral beam heating for fusion.
