内容説明

The idea of need pervades the health services and it also pervades the policies that shape the institutions under whose aegis those services are conducted. Health care need is a notorious term in both theoretical and empirical research. Too often the term is defined by the method used rather than that there is a certain definition determining the method to be used. The goal of the book is to analyze and explicate the concept of health care need. This text begins with a critical review of current views on health care need. Also the concepts of health care, health promotion, prevention and health education are scrutinized. One chapter examines the theoretical platform for the setting of priorities in accordance with need. The book ends with an outlining of a model for assessment of health care need.
