Description and Table of Contents

Description

The telecommunications industry has experienced a wave of rapid expansion and growth which alters both its structure and the products on which it is based. The 1990s will be marked by the European Community's initiative in the form of Directives to loosen the grip of public monopoly carriers and provide an open environment for competitive service providers. The tendering of goods and services in this industry is one of the most complex areas for the creation of the 1992 Single Market. "EC Telecommunications Law" is a detailed description and analysis of the law dealing with the open market to provide telecom equipment and services in the EC. It covers all types of telecommunications equipment fax, value added network systems, satellite communications' links, electronic mail and telephone exchanges as well as the public sector contracts relating to telecommunications. It provides national reports from individual European countries, including Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Each summarizes the law as it applies in the individual jurisdiction.
