Description and Table of Contents

Volume

pt. A ISBN 9780444423979

Description

At a time when there are many specialist reviews, monographs and reports available, there is still an important place for a book such as ``Rodd'' which gives a broader coverage of organic chemistry. One aspect of the value of this work is that it allows an expert in one field to find out quickly what is happening in other fields of chemistry. On the other hand, a chemist looking for the way into a field of study will find within Rodd an outline of the important aspects of that area of chemistry, together with leading references to other works to provide more detailed information.

Volume

pt. F ISBN 9780444428219

Description

This supplement covers chapters 24-27 inclusive which appeared in Volume IVF of the second edition. Chapter 23 has been omitted from this volume, as it was agreed with the author of the second edition that the ``theoretical aspects'' of heterocyclic compounds are best integrated with the compounds of other properties and not dealt with separately.

Table of Contents

  • Chapter 24. The Chemistry of Pyridine and Its Derivatives (J. Becher). 25. Bicyclic Compounds Containing a Pyridine Ring: Cyclopolymethylenepyridines, Cycloalkenopyridines (C.D. Johnson). 26. Bicyclic Compounds Containing a Pyridine Ring
  • Quinoline and its Derivatives (C.D. Johnson). 27. Bicyclic Compounds Containing a Pyridine
  • Isoquinoline and its Derivatives (J.G. Keay, E.F.V. Scriven). Index.

Volume

pt. E ISBN 9780444886118

Description

The publication of this volume continues the supplementation of the second edition of Rodd's Chemistry of Carbon Compounds thus keeping this major work of reference up-to-date. The contents of this volume supplement chapters 20, 21, and 22 of Volume IVE of the second edition. Chapter 22 of the second edition was a reproduction of chapter IX of the original edition and was published as a tribute to Sir Robert Robinson. Advances in this area have been incorporated into the main text of the supplement. Although the chapters in this book stand on their own, they are intended to be read in conjunction with the parent chapters in the second edition.
