Description and Table of Contents
Description
Designed as a graduate text and clinical reference, this work combines theory, assessment and treatment of adult aphasia and related disorders, such as apraxia, dysarthria, agnosia and dementia. The book also covers problems in supervision and trends in economics and politics surrounding the funding of treatment. This edition contains contributions from 46 professionals, 20 of which are new to this 3rd edition. There are also 17 new chapters covering brain imaging, differential diagnosis, environmental and psychological communication treatment, computer applications and treatment of writing disorders in aphasia. The chapters have been reorganized to focus on clinically relevant issues and specific intervention approaches, while minimizing concentration on history, the neurological basis of language processing and theoretical models. An added section on professional considerations should serve as a useful guide in applying research to therapy. For ease of reference the information contained in this book is indexed by contributor and subject matter.
