Description
This is a practical guide for teachers who wish to undertake research in their classrooms and schools for the purpose of improving practice. Classroom research, as desribed in this book, should enable teachers to enhance their own or a colleague's teaching, to test the assumptions of educational theory in practice and to implement and evaluate whole school developments. This new edition takes a new perspective into account whilst retaining the structure of the original book. In particular, the crucial role of classroom observation in supporting teacher and school development is emphasized, a new chapter on linking classroom research to other whole school initiatives has been added, and the text as a whole has been updated in light of changing context. The book contains case studies, discussions and a description of methods for collecting and analyzing data. The ways in which classroom research can be reported, published and linked to the curriculum, teaching and staff development are also described.
