内容説明
This publication combines reviews of progress in key areas of biomedical research with reflections on the social and ethical problems biology and medicine will be facing in the foreseeable future. The contributions range from investigations to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular functions, to consideration of the complex interactions between science and society. Examples of such interplay illustrate the impact of biomedical research on society and how the boundary conditions set by the latter determine the success of the former.
