Description and Table of Contents

Description

Cognitive disorders of later life range in severity from the learning and memory deficits seen in normal ageing to the global failure of cognitive function that marks the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. The contributions in this volume focus on basic and clinical aspects of age-related cognitive dysfunction. Neurochemical, electrophysiological as well as molecular and genetic studies are reported, providing a rational basis for the definition and treatment of these disorders. Further papers discuss the development of cognitive enhancers and the associated clinical assessment methodology. In addition, a panel discussion summary is included which represents a consensus document on key regulatory issues in the development of these pharmacological agents.
