内容説明

For the first time, the histories of radio and television are brought together in one book. Since the early days of the AWA , radio, and now television have become part of everyday life. The Colgate--Palmolive Unit and the ABC News Service belong to an earlier generation; today's audience are tuned into talkback, one day cricket, and video clip shows. Now the shape of these media is changing rapidly with the introduction of new technologies and the growth of globalization. In "Stay tuned", Albert Moran draws on work by prominent media commentators including Mark Armstrong, Bill Bonney, Stuart Cunningham, Elizabeth Jacka, Lesley Johnson and Tom O'Regan. They untangle the relationships between public and commercial broadcasting, government regulation and private ownership, the electronic media and the print media. They also look at the introduction of television and the effect this had on radio, programming, the effect of new media technologies and the current crisis of the electronic media. "Stay tuned" is a broad introduction to the historical development and current issues of broadcasting in Australia which will be read by media studies students and anyone else looking for an overview of the industry. "Albert Moran teaches in the School of Film and Media at Griffith University, Queensland. He has written extensively on film and television in journal articles and his six books including "An Australian film reader" (1987), "The Australian screen" (with Tom O'Regan, 1989), "Australian television drama series 1956--1981" (1989) and "Projecting Australia: government film since 1945"(1991).".
