内容説明
The agreed legal scale used to calibrate thermometers has recently been revised for the first time in twenty years. This volume evaluates the changes implemented. The reader is given a fundamental understanding of temperature measurement and calibration. The only pre-requisite required is a general background in a physical science. Taking the definition of traceability as their starting point, the authors explain how faulty temperature readings can be avoided if one follows recognized procedures. Since as many as one in five thermometers in use are well out of calibration, readers are shown how to ensure that a thermometer is accurate. Quality concepts and modern instrument practice are emphasized and radiation thermometry is explained.
