Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book is directed towards computer professionals involved with systems integration, software development and systems design. It is intended as an aid to the evaluation of optical storage software for use in existing or planned computer systems. The chapters have been arranged to progress from general to increasingly technical and specific topics, although individual chapters may be read as standalone papers in their own right. Contributors include skilled systems designers, programmers, systems integrators and software engineers all with hands-on experience of WORM technology. Topics covered include different perspectives on software requirements, the applicability of off-the-shelf versus customized software, large-scale data formats and standards, operational systems dependence and independence, benchmarking drives and jukeboxes, the impact and uses of the SCSI interface. A glossary and list of proposed software standards are included.

Table of Contents
