Description

"Fundamental Issues in Strategy" is the product of a conference jointly sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Strategic Management Society in November 1990. This conference brought together important and influential thinkers in the field of strategy, as well as scholars from the fields of economics, organizational sociology, and political science, to address the following fundamental questions: How do firms behave? Why do firms differ? What are the functions of the headquarters unit in a multibusiness firm? What determines the international success or failure of firms? The book includes contributions from Alfred Chandler, Michael Porter, Oliver Williamson, and C.K. Prahalad. It represents a coherent statement of the status and future of the field of strategic management, re-examining the theoretical roots of strategic issues in order to set a new research agenda and advance the state of the field. It is also available in paperback (ISBN 0875846459).
