内容説明
This volume explores how various cells and tissues come together to generate the specific form and shape of organs. Each chapter focuses on a distinct organ system and is written by a well-known investigator of that system. The book examines how molecular processes generate specific tissue and organ forms in order to highlight possible common (and unique) mechanisms. Several organisms are represented, each exploiting a developmental paradigm relevant to a specific organ system. Emphasis is placed on molecules that influence cell behaviour, including extracellular matrix components, signalling peptides, degradative enzymes and their inhibitors, cell adhesion molecules and cell junction-associated molecules, and various intracellular organelles, including the actin-containing cytoskeleton, intermediate filaments and microtubules.
