内容説明

Going beyond the techniques and technology of sustainability, this study aims to provide a theoretical framework for sustainable design within broader cultural and artistic trends. The book examines the conflict between technology and nature in the industrialized world. It describes three basic forces: topophilia (love of the land); technophilia (love and dependence on technology); and technophobia (fear of the side-effects of technology); plus their interplay in the environment. The author describes how the conflict of these forces has created the current environmental crisis, and offers the methodology of sustainable design as a solution to various problems.
