Description
This book presents the findings of a team of archaeologists, art historians, historians, place name experts and scholars of saga literature. They chart the Vikings' occupation of Northern Scotlanbd, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands in all its facets. A gazeteer of the major sites and places in the region gives summaries of the most recent findings, while experts from Scandinavia, Britain and the US provide the historical and literary background to the region. This contribution to the study of the Vikings should be useful to local history enthusiasts as well as students of archaeology at all levels.
