Description and Table of Contents
Description
This annotated bibliography of criticism, compiled by the editor of the "Wallace Stevens Journal", organises, clarifies and evaluates a considerable body of work. It surveys published scholarship and dissertations about Stevens, from 1916 to 1990. Chronologically-arranged items highlight Stevens's emergence as a major American poet and track the growing response of literary criticism. Almost 1900 entries summarise the contents of each citation, and indicate the critical approaches and themes under discussion. The volume also consists of indexes and cross-references covering Stevens's publication history, identifying recent reprints, and locating numerous foreign articles and monographs about him.
