内容説明
This book is a guide to biomedical visualization in microscopy, a new method of computer-aided three-dimensional imaging. Aspects of computer graphics, image analysis, specimen preparation, and microscopy technology are combined in this multi-authored work to provide thorough coverage of the most important biomedical applications of visualization. Examples include three-dimensional imaging of serial mechanical sections in light and electron microscopy as well as non-invasive sections in microtomography and confocal microscopy. Special emphasis is placed on advanced 3-D imaging with laser scanning microscopes. An exciting new technique presented here is four-dimensional visualization: the time-resolved imaging of in-vivo microstructures. Serving as an excellent introductory text and reference source for microscopists, computer scientists, and researchers in biology and clinical medicine, this book also contains over 150 illustrations, many in colour, as well as a fold-out poster of a computer-generated image of cell mitosis.
