内容説明
Women play a major role in the production, processing and marketing of food, but have often been constrained from contributing fully to the development of these areas because of lack of availability of Appropriate Technologies. This book consists of background country from the SADCC region (Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe) on women's access to, and use of, improved food technologies in all areas - land preparation and irrigation, seeding, harvesting, storage and crop processing devices, as well as "soft techniques" such as planning and organizing village woodlots and domestic gardening. Factors such as access to credit and training, involvement in technology design and adaption, availability of raw materials, infrastructure and markets, and the policy environment are addressed, together with examples of successful projects which are to be learnt from.
Published on behalf of UNIFEM, and written and designed for womens' organizations and support groups together with the development agencies working with them, these studies will be of great interest and value to all concerned with the planning and implementation of improved food security programmes, and all those attempting to meet womens' needs for improved food technologies.
