内容説明

The importance of digital coding and transmission of audio and video signals for radio broadcasting is now clear. The present book provides an up-to-date review of many important research and development results in the fields of audio/video signal distribution. There is particular emphasis on the impact of new technologies on the current and future capabilities of broadcasting systems. Major international experts have contributed to this collection of research and survey papers. The book gives a wide perspective on the topics of high-quality audio and video encoding and highly efficient transmission- and coding techniques. The reader will also find a chapter on the intriguing aspect of joint source and channel encoding for digital television, with a review on some techniques that may might be applied in future broadcasting systems. Included is also a report on some audio/video development (standardization) activities currently in progress in the European Community.
