Our understanding of river flooding is increasing rapidly thanks to worldwide research efforts into the numerous hydrological, hydraulic and morphological processes which occur during flood events. There is a continual improvement in modelling technologies to predict and simulate these important processes, aided by advances in computer power and speed.
