内容説明

This book provides a discussion of breast cancer, with information on most aspects of the disease, encompassing the progress made in this area of medicine during the seven years since the publication of the first edition. There are four main areas of development in recent years which are incorporated in this edition: indications that screening for breast cancer reduces the number of deaths; a new choice of treatment between mastectomy and conservation of the breast; the combination of chemotherapy or endocrine therapy with local treatment; and a recognition of how the cancer cell differs from the normal one. Topics covered include risk factors and prevention, the structure of the breast, benign and malignant changes and their symptoms, screening and self-examination, diagnosis, the course of the disease, surgery, complementary therapy, psychological aspects, advanced disease and prospects for the future.
