Description and Table of Contents
Description
This report is based on inspection by HMI of 98 primary schools, 15 middle schools, 227 secondary schools and 30 special schools. It shows that the quality of teaching and learning in Key Stages 1 and 2 were better than in the previous year. In Key Stage 3, improved standards identified in the previous two years' reports were generally sustained. The report notes that professional support and INSET for science co-ordinators in primary and middle schools, and for heads of department in secondary schools, remain a priority. This report is intended for teachers of science and their headteachers and inspectors.
