Life expectancy has increased substantially over recent decades and the elderly now form a significant part of the population of many countries. As age brings its own particular dental problems, the dental treatment of the elderly is assuming an increased importance. Based on a series of articles first published in "Dental Update", this book encompasses all aspects of dental care for the elderly patient, from discussion on age and medical aspects of ageing to practical chapters on prosthetics. The aim of the book is to bring together specialists to explain and discuss those parts of their discipline that relate especially to the elderly and their dental care.
