Description and Table of Contents

Description

The west of Scotland and Northern Ireland have long been, important areas in the study of geology, but work on the adjacent seas has been relatively recent. The Malin-Hebrides area has attracted relatively little interest from the oil industry so that this part of the UK Continental Shelf has less information on subsurface geology than any other. Since 1966, the British Geological Survey has been studying the area in order to produce a series of maps on a scale of 1:250 000 as part of a survey of United Kingdom Continental Shelf. Following production of these maps, this report has been produced as one of a series of UK Offshore Regional Reports which integrate BGS data and interpretations with commercial information and published material.
